Dear Conrad,
   Version 2.5.3 fixes the Spice output error.  You were correct in your
assessment of the bug, which has to do with clear_traversed and is also
subtle;  the changes required to fix it the "right" way spanned several
source files, so I will just suggest that you get 2.5.3 from the
xcircuit.ece.jhu.edu website.
