Dear Roland,

The "G" key macro will make global labels for power and ground
connections, or you can use the menu item "Netlist->Convert Label
To..." to change a regular label or local pin into a global pin.

Currently, about the only useful thing that goes into a PCB label
is the "U?" line (in the templates), where the "?" is parameterized
so that it can be filled in by the auto-numbering routine. This
ensures that each device makes it into the PCB output file, and
that each IC instance gets a unique index.

The tutorial
http://xcircuit.ece.jhu.edu/tutorial/tutorial2.html
Is fairly inclusive; especially, "Task 11" explains (for the most
part) how to create actual IC types from the templates.

Be sure to look at the "libraries" section of the XCircuit
website. "diplib.tar.gz" has an extensive set of standard ICs,
as does "headerlib.tar.gz". "hexparts.lps" is a different style
of usage (gates instead of ICs) but doesn't handle the power and
ground connections.
