[Xcircuit-dev] Changing parameters (non TCL version)

I have been using the X-Circuit (v3.4.21-0ubuntu1 from the
Electronics-universe repository) schematic capture program successfully (on
Ubuntu 6.06) for the past few months.
I entered a schematic and produced a netlist. That works fine. But I need
to assign my own parts designators (C1, C2, R1, R2 etc). When I used the
TCL version I could do Ctrl-p to edit the parameters. Ctrl-p does not work
in this version. Is there another way to do it?
Thanks for the help,
Dave
